Applications of strain measurements at cryogenic temperatures

  • phase transitions in 2D magnetic semiconductors, e.g. from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic
  • Lifshitz transition of 2-dimensional Fermi surfaces caused by structural changes of the crystal lattice
  • apply large anisotropic stresses to correlated electron materials 
  • Probe quantum materials with uniaxial stress
